DSC_1402The wedding of Lauren and Ross actually was the second of two back-to-back weddings that I DJ’d this weekend, both at the Fontainebleau Inn. It also happened to be the nicest weekend of weather we’ve had all summer. It was just about as perfect a day as you could ask for.

Lauren and I had had many conversations leading up to the wedding. As I got to know her more it became apparent that she is one of the most considerate people I know. Imagine being the person hired to work at her wedding and about the first thing she asks me upon arrival is whether there is anything she can do for me. That’s the kind of person Lauren is… always thinking of everyone else.

This was a joyous day; one that included the bringing together of Lauren with Ross and his daughter Jessica. They had their wedding ceremony at lakeside.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, everyone made their way up to the patio for cockatil hour. After the formal introductions, Lauren and Ross had their first dance to a great song by the Jayhawks, “I’m gonna make you love me”. The Father-Daughter dance was done to the song “True Grit” by Glen Campbell and then Ross danced with his daughter to the song “Hoodoo Voodoo” by Wilco.

Lauren and Ross both have a love for music. They provided me with a great list of song suggestions, one in which I discovered some new music that I was not familiar with. Now as a person who already owns over 8,000 CD’s you might think that there couldn’t possibly be music that I wasn’t familiar with. Ha! Thanks guys, for helping expand my music horizons.

I’m so fortunate to have the opportunity to work with so many wonderful couples and families. Lauren and Ross, you guys are the best and I wish you a long happy marriage.

The day was absolutely perfect for the wedding of Kari and Raul. Blue skies and comfortable temperature in the beautiful setting of the Fontainebleau Inn, made it perfect. Many of the guests arrived by motor coach.

Word of Mouth catering had a scrumptious assortment of hors d’oeuvres on the patio for the cocktail hour and the kids in attendance had a blast running around the grounds of the Fontainebleau.

The bride and groom were introduced to the dance floor and had their first dance to the song “Everything” by Michael Bublé. Afterwards, toasts were given by the Father of the Bride, Brent Christensen, the Best Man, Alec Macaulay and the Maid of Honor Kylie Christensen.

After the meal the Kari had a dance with her father to the song “Unforgettable” by Nat and Natalie Cole and then Raul and his mother danced to “A Song for Mama” by  Boyz II Men.

Such a beautiful day with great people and truly a blessing to be a part of such a wonderful celebration. My thanks to the Brides parents who made me feel so welcome and my congratulations to Kari and Raul!

DSC_0314The wineries in the Finger Lakes region of New York are so beautiful and such fun places to have a wedding reception.

Stacey and Bryan had their reception at Ginny Lee Cafe, part of Wagner Vineyards on Seneca Lake.

It was a grayish sort of day but somehow the rain managed to hold off for most of the day and only towards the end of the night did it begin to rain. but for Stacey and Bryan, it was pretty much rainfree.

Stacey and Bryan had their first dance to “You Are So Beautiful” by Joe Cocker. Stacey and her Father danced to “What a Wonderful World” by Louis Armstrong and Bryan and his Mother danced to “In My Life” by The Beatles.

The Ginny Lee Cafe looked quite beautiful for the reception, great table arrangements and decoration. There was a tremendous amount of energy and dancing on the dance floor which made the night a fun time for all. I’m grateful to the families of both the bride and groom who made me feel like a million bucks with the compliments they gave me at the conclusion of the reception. Thanks to all! Stacey and Bryan, congratulations and enjoy some more photos that I took.

DSC_0037If you are a regular reader of my blog, you know by now that the weather this year has mostly been a washout…lots of rain and cooler than normal temperatures. This weekend was one of the better ones and there was no rain. I was happy and I’m sure Jessica and Ed were relieved. The wedding reception took place at Six Mile Creek Vineyard in Ithaca. I’ve got a special place in my heart for Six Mile Creek as it’s where I had my wedding reception. What a beautiful location for a wedding and reception. Although this couple did not have their ceremony here, it is certainly possible to do so and there is a beautiful pond on the grounds for just such pond-side ceremonies. For this reception the cocktail hour was beside the pond and the meal and dancing was in the winery itself.

Jessica had sworn me to secrecy some weeks before because she and Ed had been taking dance lessons in preparation for their first dance which was a Tango. I was the first person to actually see them dancing the tango together. I caught a glimpse of them practicing just moments before the reception began, outside of the main reception area. But let me tell you, the actual dance was perfect and the guests went wild as the bride and groom were dancing together. This tango was the “real deal”.

This was just an amazing wedding in so many ways. The food was great, the setting was beautiful, the guests danced and danced and danced all night long.

Thanks Jessica and Ed for having me be a part of your fantastic day and enjoy a few more of the photos I took.

DSC_9878It was a beautiful day for Alida and Paul as they celebrated their marriage at the beautiful Fontainebleau Inn in Alpine, NY. They had a lakeside ceremony followed by reception and the weather, although a bit humid, was rainfree and that alone was a major accomplishment given the weather we’ve been experiencing this summer in Central New York.
DSC_9869DSC_9873DSC_9887This was the first time I have worked with the caterers that Alida and Paul had selected. The caterers where none other than the world famous Dinosaur Bar-B-Que. Oh my, what a wonderful treat it was to have such a fun caterer… pulled pork, bar-b-q chicken, salt potatoes, salad, baked beans, cornbread and the oh-so-famous Dinosaur sauce. It was awesome and judging by all the comments I heard, everyone agreed.

The Maid of Honor, Annalee Murphy and Best Man, James Cook gave the toasts while Tom Lucie gave the blessing before the meal.

Alida and Paul’s first dance was “Something” by the Beatles. The Father/Daughter dance was “Somewhere Over The Rainbow” by Israel K. and the Mother/Groom dance was “My Wish” by Rascal Flatts.

DSC_9909DSC_9933DSC_9942It was a crazy night on the dancefloor punctuated by a surprise slide show that the bridesmaids put together for the Bride and Groom. The slide show had an added benefit of giving everyone about 15 minutes of rest. LOL. In spite of the heat and humidity everyone danced like there was no tomorrow.

One of the hottest songs of the night was the Chris Brown song “Forever”. C’mon… you’ve seen the YouTube video right? Just to clairfy, this video is not from Alida and Paul’s wedding but a recent “hot” video on YouTube featuring the song…

Thank you Paul and Alida for having me be your DJ and MC. It was a real pleasure for me and I wish you both all my best wishes for a long and happy marriage.
