It’s for the birds

Published on May 14, 2008

This year we started seeing Baltimore Orioles in our backyard. It’s the first time we’ve seen them. They are beautifully colored with a very distinctive song. We soon learned that Orioles like to visit the hummingbird feeder to partake of the same sugar water that Hummingbirds drink. So I bought a feeder that is specifically [...]

A mighty fine day for some XC Skiing

Published on December 5, 2007

Yesterday it snowed about 12-14 inches. Overnight we got around another 2 inches of the fluffiest snow you’ve ever seen. All that new snow made me want to XC Ski somewhere so I headed out to one of my favorite spots, Bear Swamp at the south end of Skaneateles Lake.
Bear Swamp is a New York [...]

First snowfall of the season

Published on November 17, 2007

It had to happen sooner or later I guess. Last night was it. Our first significant snow of the season. Not too much but enough to make everything quite wintry. And unfortunately, snowy enough for me to have to snow-blow the driveway. Ha! It’s supposed to be 50 degrees tomorrow though so maybe if I [...]

The Grape Festival, Naples, NY

Published on October 5, 2007

Last weekend, Sept 28-30, was the weekend of the Grape Festival in Naples, NY. This is a really fun event to attend and it is well attended, believe me. Someone told me that the crowd on Saturday was estimated to be 80,000. That’s pretty remarkable especially when you consider that the New York State Fair, [...]

My Labor Day weekend was spent with my wife and in-laws. Part of our time was spent in Dansville, NY for the New York State Festival of Balloons.
Our plan was to watch the balloon launch Monday night at 6:00pm. We arrived right on time and there were quite a few balloons being inflated, but due [...]

New York State Fair

Published on August 31, 2006

It’s been a busy week for me at the NYS Fair. Busy eating too much, walking too much and eating too much. This year I bought pre-sale tickets and parking passes in order to save some bucks… you know, so I could spend it on Fair essentials like food. I had the brilliant idea of [...]

Celebrating my 3rd Anniversary

August 23rd was my 3rd anniversary. My beautiful wife and I celebrated by visiting some great new friends of ours who live in Cincinnati, Ohio. Scott and Maria Crawford operate the Gaslight B&B, one of the most beautiful B&B’s we’ve ever stayed in. Maria cooks the most delicious breakfasts and the house is just fantastic. [...]

A great lineup of friends…

Published on August 15, 2006

This has been a fantastic summer. One of the most enjoyable aspects of the summer of 2006 has been meeting new people and developing new friendships. In particular, I have really established an excellent relationship with some fellow wedding professionals. Frank DiMeo, Luke Waliker, Bob Kaussner, Marybeth Longo and Brady Dillsworth.
Frank, Luke, Bob and Brady [...]
